Marxism and the fight against racism
September 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Thursday, September 21st @7pm, Lafayette Hall room 210 on the UVM Campus.
Police brutality. The return of the KKK and Neo-Nazis. Mass incarceration. Gentrification. Repression at Standing Rock. Mass deportations. The Wall. Attacks on DACA. Muslim ban. Imperialist wars through the Middle East.
Racism–the core division in the US from the beginning of its history–is raising its ugly head everywhere you look.
But so is resistance. From Black Lives Matter and the occupation of the airports to stop Trump’s Muslim ban to the mass protests against white supremacists in recent weeks.
Capitalism and racism are joined at the hip. Capitalism is dependent on racism as a source of profiteering, and as a means to divide and rule. There is a necessary link between anti-racist and class struggles based on the unified, multi-racial and multi-ethnic working-class organizing for a socialist society.
